Care-Led Practice
Working in a care home for over five years has deeply shaped my approach as a designer.
Spending time within that environment made me more aware of how important touch, texture
and familiarity can be to someone’s wellbeing. It shifted how I see textiles - not just
as surface or decoration, but as something that can offer comfort and grounding.
This experience led me to undertake weaving workshops at The Magnolia Club in Brixton - a
dementia support group hosted by Age UK Lambeth - and at Westergate House Care Home in
Fontwell, exploring how making can support memory, encourage focus and create moments of calm.
